The 2012 Ecommerce Cup Group Stages

There’s only a week to go until the inaugural Tamebay Ecommerce Cup managed by Genie and the Geek, which kicks off in Wembley next Wednesday evening. Yesterday the excitement increased as the cup kindly supplied by www.trophies247.co.uk arrived. It’s impressively heavy and standing at 14″ high is looking great in Tamebay’s offices until we take it to Wembley next week.

The cup arrived already engraved, along with the winners medals, and we’ve also got the bottle of champagne ready to present to the winning team.

The group stage draw

We’ve also had the draw for the four group stages which will be played concurrently on Wednesday. All teams in each group will play each other, with the top two teams from each group then moving forward to the quarter finals.

Now that we’ve seen the draw we’ve given up on the idea of Dan and I acting as umpires – we’ve booked some professional referees to make sure that the teams behave themselves. Negative feedback will be awarded for all red cards!

On the day

I’m hearing that some of the teams have been out practicing and it’s starting to look like there’s a lot of friendly rivalry going on. We’ll will of course be taking pictures on the night and be tweeting during the event so if you can’t make it we’ll do our best to keep you up to date as the matches progress.

If you’re in the Wembley area on Wednesday you are of course very welcome to come down for the seven o’clock kick off and enjoy the fun. We’re expecting some teams to have a few supporters (who may be roped in as casualty replacements substitutes), but Dan and I intend staying safely on the touch line to enjoy the action from a safe distance.
