Paralympics knitted Adam Hills from The Last Leg

No primary category set

A few minutes ago Adam Hills, the presenter of Channel4’s “The Last Leg” daily round up of the Paralympic Games coverage mentioned a .

The Last Leg is pretty irreverent about disability, often with strong language to colour the jokes, but Adam Hills includes poking fun at himself, and has currently painted his own prosthetic leg in the colours of the Ghanaian flag as part of the show.

A fan of the show knitted Adam in the dress of a London 2012 Gamesmaker uniform, holding his prosthetic leg in his hand. They then stuck it on eBay with 100% of the proceeds going through eBay for Charity to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

When the show started knitted Adam Hills was sitting with a £15 bid, but within seconds of the mention on Channel4 the bids started rolling in. Before the end of the next ad break the bidding had exceeded £1000 with 60 bids from 35 bidders and it’s not showing any signs of slowing down.

While I’ve been writing this article the bidding for the has already shot to over £2000 and rising!

  1. Just a correction – Adam’s leg is painted with the Ghanaian flag, not the Brazilian flag 🙂

  2. It’s not a Brazilian flag. It’s the flag of Guyana because the team from Guyana are using donated second hand wheelchairs and stuff like that.

  3. £30k and counting!… Awesome for GOSH. Share share share… Over 3days to go, let’s see what generous souls are willing to offer.

  4. Time left: 3d 12h (07 Sep, 201220:50:17 BST)

    Current bid: £34,000.00 [ 154 bids ] !!!

  5. Amazing what a mention on the telly can do for you… the auction has had over 200,000 page views in the last 12 hours!

Let’s hope it’s mentioned again in tonight’s show!

  6. At £34k I don’t think the bidder will be paying.

I don’t know why people have to do this, specially when it is for Charity!

  7. Why has Adam Hill’s article in the Independent ‘Don’t take disability too seriously’disappeared?

Was it something he said or wrote????

  8. Wheelchair rugby – fantastic – they didn’t half remind me of daleks spinning round like they do. I loved it
