Amazon.com FBA Fee Changes 18th Feb 2012

Update will increase overall fulfillment fees

Amazon say that they “expect that this update will increase overall fulfillment fees for the majority of products, while reducing overall fulfillment fees for many products that fit into the new Small Oversize and Medium Oversize categories”.

Amazon give the example of a keyboard and mouse which currently costs $7.11 to fulfil and after the price change will only cost $5.37. For many small items and media the price changes are around 9 cents, however it’s for Large and Special oversized items where the price increases really bite.

A Portable rollaway bed which currently costs $46.33 to fulfil by Amazon will rise to $82.44 and the example of a White board as a special oversized item sees a price hike from $31.53 to $130.00.

Introduction of Returns Processing Fee 18th Feb 2012

Amazon.com are also introducing a Returns Processing Fee for products in categories where Amazon offers free return shipping. These categories include Apparel; Watches; Jewelry; Shoes; and Luggage. Where the customer returns a product Amazon.com will start charging a fee equivalent to the fulfillment fees for an individually shipped unit.
