From the 15th of March, 2024, sellers on eBay.com will see the per-order fee on orders over $10 increase from $0.30 to $0.40 across all categories. eBay say this is due to increasing costs.
We’ve kept our per-order fee consistent since we started processing payments in 2020, but due to rising costs, we’re making an adjustment to this fee. This change will enable us to continue to improve our marketplace so you and your buyers can have the best experience on eBay.

This is interesting as it suggests eBay are facing higher processing costs that in other territories around the world. In the recent UK seller update, there was no change to the 30p per-order fee… but they did introduce a new 0.35% Regulatory Operating Fee as a surcharge on top of final value fees. Still trying to figure out why payment processing costs have risen in the US but in the UK and much of Europe it’s regulatory costs that have come to the fore.
In eBay terms, an order is defined as any number of items purchased by the same buyer at checkout with the same shipping method. The total amount of the sale includes the item price, any handling charges, any shipping costs collected from the buyer (some exceptions apply), sales tax, and any other applicable fees.
As an example, if you sell a trading card for $25 including shipping and tax, you’ll now pay a fee of $3.71 instead of $3.61, an increase of $0.10.
eBay say that they understand this change could impact the economics of selling lower-priced items. That’s why for orders $10 and under, there’ll be no change and you’ll continue to be charged the current rate of $0.30.

Ebay is becoming unusable due to sky high charges, Amazon is more effective and lower cost, Ebay are focussed so much on increasing revenue and short term profit, surely it will hurt them in the long term
