ChannelAdvisor Cyber Monday numbers: eBay winning

No primary category set

There’s been lots of reports around about Cyber or Mega Monday doing the rounds. So called Mega/Cyber monday was last week on the 3rd. The information that has been shared by ChannelAdvisor is of particular interest. They’ve analysed data from their merchants who were trading in 2011 and compared the 2012 equivalents.

And what’s interesting from this set of information is that eBay seems to be winning. ChannelAdvisor’s same store sales numbers show eBay UK experienced a 21.89% increase in sales, while Amazon UK saw a 14.33% increase.

Here’s a breakdown of the ecommerce figures from Mega Monday:

eBay – up 21.89%
Amazon – up 14.33%
CSE (comaparison shopping) – up 25.53%
Paid Search – up 7.36%

It could well be that today (the 10th of Deecmeber is pretty stellar too). Let us know how your’re doing.

Methodology: ChannelAdvisor calculated same-store sales based on the gross merchandise value (GMV) processed through the ChannelAdvisor platform by customers that have been using ChannelAdvisor software for at least a year, removing any customer additions or attrition.

  1. My ebay sales are dire the same as last year .

I must confess I invested more time & money in Amazon than ebay maybe thats why 🙂

  2. Cyber Monday was big, but I think Cyber Monday being the first Monday in December is a thing of the past. I’ve seen bigger 5 bigger shopping days since 3rd December, in particular on the 9th, 13th and 17th. As delivery improves, Christmas gets later each year for retailers. I’ve seen this across a number of eBay businesses over the last 3 years.
