Royal Mail have revealed the top ten places hoping to beat the rush at the shops by using the web to buy their Christmas presents.
Residents of Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town, have been out-clicking other towns for Christmas presents this year as the run up to the festive season begins. The top 10 UK online shopping destinations are:
1. Colchester
2. Lincoln
3. Brighton
4. Norwich
5. Swansea
6. Stockton On Tees
7. Chelmsford
8. Wigan
9. Guildford
10. Bedford
To identify the top ten online shopping towns Royal Mail analysed deliveries made by Royal Mail Tracked service at over 1400 of the company’s delivery offices in the UK.
The study comes as new research also reveals that one third of UK SME online retailers have invested in Apps and other IT upgrades to make it easier for people to buy from them through their Smartphones this Christmas.
Nick Landon, Managing Director of Royal Mail Parcels, said: “Online shopping is now such a key part of the Christmas shopping experience. To help our customers at this very important time of year, Royal Mail has invested in ten pop up parcel sort centres as part of our festive operation. The parcel sort centres will increase our scale and flexibility, and enable us to handle the increased volume as effectively as possible”.

That orange dot looks like Thatcham/Newbury (or even Swindon), not Guildford Chris 😉
,
Brighton is also a bit to near Portsmouth…
No wonder RM delivery times are missed when they don’t know where to send it….. LOL
Double oops! 😀
At least Royal Mail worked out why Dunfermline kept topping the charts in previous years and excluded it this time…
It is of course where all Amazon returns are sent to and processed. 😀
