Ecommerce boosts UK van sales

The huge growth of online sales has boosted van sales, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Apparently, the growth of ecommerce means that more vans and commercial vehicles were registered in the first quarter of 2015 as reliance on couriers grows.

108,456 commercial vehicles were registered in Q115. That’s an increase of 22.3% on the same period last year.

Ford represents more than 20% of these van sales in the first quarter and the Transit Custom was the most popular vehicle. The Vauxhall Vivaro is the second most popular choice.

The SMMT says: “Van registrations have risen consistently over the past two years, mainly as a result of steadily increasing business confidence and a range of attractive finance deals. The move towards online shopping and home deliveries is an important contributor to this growth – particularly that of large vans.”

  1. Great, thats all we need, more white vans on the road. Hopefully the wankers will at least deliver!

For proper reliable service use UPS or TNT.
