A former PayPal executive and HomeAway CEO is to take over as CEO of Bigcommerce with immediate effect. Bigcommerce is an ecommerce enabler.
Brent Bellm will head up Bigcommerce, which currently has 95k businesses using its software and also has three main offices in Sydney, San Francisco and Austin, Texas, USA. Bigcommerce has also reportedly taken $125m in funding since 2009.
An internal Bigcommerce email reported by Techcrunch says: “Brent has an incredible background, which he will share with you at tomorrow’s all-hands meeting. But a few highlights include being CEO of Paypal Europe helping triple quarterly revenues and most recently the President and Chief Operating Officer of HomeAway, helping take the company public in 2010 and once again tripling quarterly revenues during his tenure.
Brent knows what it takes to build, scale and grow enduring companies that lead markets and win – and we couldn’t be more proud or humbled that he’s decided to join us on our mission to democratize commerce.”
We’ll be interested to hear what Bigcommerce under Bellm’s stewardship has to offer UK ecommerce SMEs. Thus far, I think it’s fair to say, that have been quite quiet here in Europe.
