Amazon promo to remove distressed goods from FBA

No primary category set

Many sellers use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), but what happens when goods are damaged or returned in unsellable condition? If Amazon deem your product unsellable the status is changed to “Unfulfillable” and they are set aside. Amazon holds unsellable inventory for 90 days, after which it is automatically disposed of if a removal request is not submitted.

Amazon are currently running a promotion to encourage invited merchants to remove unfulfillable stock from Amazon’s warehouses. Merchants can earn 20p rebate per unfulfillable item removed from UK Fulfilment Centres by November 8th in the limited-time promotion.

There’s little point having inventory in Amazon which is unfulfillable. Depending on the value of the goods it might be cheaper to have the inventory disposed of, or for higher value goods you might be able to sell them as distressed or seconds by auctioning them off on eBay. Either way leaving them sat on Amazon’s shelves will only see the value decline and the goods to eventually be disposed of anyway.

Details of how to claim

If you received Amazon’s October 2015 “Remove or dispose your FBA unfulfillable items now and save” email, this means you qualify for this time-limited promotion, and can remove or dispose of your unfulfillable Eligible Units at 20p off standard Removal fees if you submit a removal order by November 8th.

“Eligible Units” To benefit from this promotion, at time of your removal order your item must be stored in one of Amazon’s fulfilment centres in the UK and listed as unfulfillable in the “Remove Unfulfillable Inventory” report of your Amazon.co.uk Seller account.

After you have submitted your removal or disposal request, you will have to claim your rebate under this promotion by sending an email request to [email protected] during the first 5 days following the removal order. Any rebate granted will be deposited as “miscellaneous adjustment” in your Amazon Seller account within four working weeks following your claim request.

Many thanks to Tamebay reader Carl Yaxley for the tip off.

  1. If you email them at the email address to claim your credit, it bounces back saying “this address is not accepting emails” so you can’t actually get a reimbursement. What a complete balls up.
