Royal Mail Christmas Post Mark

With Christmas fast approaching, consumers are being reminded to keep an eye out on the last posting dates to ensure that presents and cards arrive in time. For those items to Europe recommended posting dates for International Standard (airmail) are:

Friday 4 December – Africa, Middle East
Monday 7 December – Cyprus, Asia, Far East (including Japan)
Tuesday 8 December – Caribbean, Central and South America
Thursday 10 December – Greece, Australia, New Zealand
Monday 14 December – Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland
Tuesday 15 December – Canada, Finland, Sweden, USA
Wednesday 16 December – Austria, Iceland, Ireland, Portugal, Spain
Thursday 17 December – France
Friday 18 December – Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Switzerland

The recommended last posting dates for UK Christmas delivery are:
Second Class – Saturday 19 December
First Class – Monday 21 December
Special Delivery Guaranteed – Wednesday 23 December

The postmark is being applied UK stamped mail nationwide saying ‘Remember to post early for Christmas! royalmail.com/greetings’.

Andrew Hammond from Royal Mail, said: “We are all busy so it is easy to leave posting cards and presents to the last minute. We don’t want anyone to be disappointed if they are waiting for Christmas mail so we are urging customers to post early as Royal Mail builds up to its busiest time of year“.

There is of course little need to remind ecommerce merchants of the last posting dates. However it’s great to see consumers reminded that there is a deadline. buying on the evening of the 22nd and hoping for that last gift to arrive in time for Christmas just can’t happen unless you’re prepared to pay for next day delivery and you’re at home to receive the parcel.

What date will your last posting date before Christmas be? Are you shutting down or taking advantage of the increasing tend for consumers to do a bit of online shopping on Christmas day?
