InterLink Express, part of the DPD Group, have sent out a notice to their customers informing them that many delivieries in London and the South East will not take place today.
Sadly this is due to a serious accident early this morning, which included fatalities, the M1 is currently closed between junctions 16 and 18 both northbound and southbound and has been since around 4am. This means that trailers heading to depots in London and the South East will not arrive on schedule and parcels due to be delivered by Basildon, Crayford, Letchworth and Rainham depots will be subject to a 24 hour delay.
Interlink have undertaken to inform your customers of the delay so long as you provided email addresses or phone numbers to enable tracking updates to be sent.
This is most likely a one off 24 hour delay for shipments passing through the above four depots only, so everything should be back to normal by tomorrow.

It was only those four depots that were affected but shipments sent today that would normally be delivered from those depots tomorrow will only be delivered on Friday. Will wait to see if anything sent tomorrow will only be delivered Monday or whether they’ll upgrade those free to Saturday deliveries as at this time of year they deliver Saturdays anyway to keep on top of things. Or perhaps they’ll just catch up and tomorrow things will be back to normal.
Incidentally Parcelforce were also affected with our Gatwick depot having at least 2000 parcels in a truck which was stuck in the M1 closure not being delivered today. Not sure about any other depots though.
Anyone else notice that all Prime delivery estimates on Amazon for the last week have been 2 days instead of 1? Amazon seems to be dispatching on time but on the day of delivery DPD keep emailing me saying my order has been delayed and will come the next day. I think DPD and perhaps other couriers are more overloaded than they’re saying and Amazon has had to compensate by raising their dispatch estimates.
