Is India on your ecommerce roadmap?

No primary category set

indiaOne of the sessions I’m very much looking forward to at tomorrow’s joint Fashion Without Borders and Retail Without Borders events will be to hear more about Indian marketplaces. Three marketplaces – Amazon India, Flipkart and Myntra are all presenting and as one of the fastest growing emerging markets in the world, India should at least be on your radar if not already on your road map.

Amazon are confidently predicting that India will become their second-biggest market for after the US and are in the middle of a $2 billion investment building out their logistics capabilities. They’re already offering next morning delivery for orders placed late at night in some cities across the country. If you’re going to dip you toe in the water with ecommerce in India Amazon wouldn’t be a bad place to start as at least they’re a familiar marketplace for existing merchants.

You can hear from Martin Gardner, Principle Business Development and Global Vendor Management for Amazon India at Retail Without Borders on Wednesday this week. Hope to see you there if you’re attending.
