Have you used eBay UK’ s Click & Drop service?

Have you tested eBay’s relatively new eBay Drop-off service which is available at 150 Argos stores across the UK? As the guys at RepriceExpress tweeted “Get next day/tracked & signed for delivery from £3.80 at Argos with eBay Drop Off” seems like a pretty good deal.

If your Argos store is one of those participating, then the service which is powered by UK Mail looks pretty competitively priced.

The big benefit of eBay Drop Off at Argos is that stores are open late into the evening 7 days a week. You probably won’t want to use this service if you’re shipping large numbers of parcels. The people this is intended for are consumer sellers or small lifestyle sellers who want to be able to drop of parcels at a time that fits in with their schedule rather than queue at the Post Office or wait in for a courier collection.

The service is a very simple three option pricing structure. You simply sell your item on eBay, pack and take to your nearest participating Argos store and purchase a label in store. Then when you enter the tracking number into eBay and you’ll be able to track the parcel to it’s destination.

The cut off time for next day delivery is 3pm.

  1. No never even thought of using Argos Drop off when courier brokers like Parcel2Go offer far more drop off options some 24 hour at lower prices without trying to park near or go into an Argos

  2. If the nearest participating Argos wasn’t 18 miles away I’d give it a go to see how well it works. Have to wait until it comes to South Derbyshire :-/

  3. Yes, I tried it last year.
    It was a complete disaster.
    The main problems were:

    (a) the courier didn’t actually collect from the store every day. They collected when they felt like it. It took 3 days for them to collect.

    (b) when Argos accepted the item and scanned it into their system, this didn’t register anywhere except on the Argos system. It didn’t act as an acceptance scan for the courier. So although the courier delivered it within THEIR timescale (well, almost), I’d already got the defect from eBay. And eBay wouldn’t remove it until I’d e-mailed them a scan of my payment receipt from Argos. Complete disaster. Next day service was a 5-day service – but the fault showed on the eBay system as being mine.

They may have sorted these problems out now, but I’m not going to be the guinea pig who finds out.
