We reported this earlier in the year. But now it’s a reality. You can now validate your payment with MasterCard by using a selfie. The selfie replaces your need to to enter a password and presumably uses biometric recognition and it’s now available to use.
The 12 countries where it is now available are Austria, Belgium, Britain, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Sweden. Have you had a go yet?
As they say of the new technology: “MasterCard Identity Check Mobile eliminates the need for cardholders to recall passwords, dramatically speeding up the digital checkout experience while also improving security. Instead, the cardholder can verify their identity by using the fingerprint scanner on their smartphone or via facial recognition technology by taking a ‘selfie’ photo.”

If i want punched in the face by a cashier, i’ll be sure to try this out.
what a twat you will look.
i cant wait until i see someone hold up a que in the shop to do this, i’m so smacking them in the back of the head with a 48-box of weetabix.
I’m just waiting for the first reports of a thief with a stolen card producing the victim’s finger to use the fingerprint scanner – when you get idiot burglars falling asleep during a robbery after eating and drinking too much in the house, anything is possible from those of little intelligence.
