Royal Mail report problems with online tracking on Black Friday weekend

This is the busiest weekend of the year for ecommerce. So it’s far from ideal timing that Royal Mail have reported on Twitter that they are having technical problems with online and phone tracking. According to their reports, they hope to have the issue resolved soon and advise that users check again later.

Here’s the tweet:

We’re unsure what the scope of the issue is and who is impacted, but it’s not good timing. Have you been affected? Let us know if you’re having problems.

Edited to add

We’ve had a call from Royal Mail and the issue is resolved and tracking working as you’d normally expect.

  1. Hi Royal Mail

I’ve sent a letter to Hungary on the 21st of November, I’ve used the international tracked and signed service. On the website, it said that this service will take 3-5 days and now it’s the 6th day but the tracking system is still showing it’s getting ready to be sent to Hungary.

    My reference number is RN212914496GB.

    Thank you
    Lincoln

  2. We sent out about 100 tracked packets over the weekend, they are mainly showing up. A lot have not been delivered yet either all 1st.
The system will be overloaded as it is every time this year.

Most marketplaces have realistic post times, apart from eBay of course. We changed our 1 day dispatch to 2 day this week (still dispatch as normal) to give more genuine delivery timescales here.

  3. It’s always worth entering a GB tracking number on the destination countries mail site.
Your item arrived in Hungary yesterday.
