Consumers can now send large and awkward parcels via selected Post Office branches throughout the UK, with Parcelforce Worldwide’s express48large, benefiting from secure delivery within two working days.
express48large allows customers to send parcels 2.5m in length, and 5m in length and girth combined. There is an individual parcel weight limit of 30kg.
Now I know what you’re probably thinking – it sounds great for that one off bulky item that you have to send… but how hard is it to find a Post Office to take your parcel? I had a quick check and was amazed to discover that my nearest Post Office (in a Tesco shop at Northfield Road, Thatcham) is on the list. It would be interesting to see Liz’s face if I were to walk in with a 30kg 2.5m long parcel, I’m not quite sure how they’d get it over the counter or balanced on the scales to be weighed.
Still it’s a useful service, especially if you’re a casual seller with a one off large heavy item to send. If you use the service let us know how you get on.

Our Local PO used to take till a couple of years ago, when Parcelforce told them not accept them anymore.
We’ve also stopped using the Large service since the price tripled after the City Link collapse & now use another courier for our Large / Long items
