Snapchat launch new ad options for SMEs

No primary category set

Social network Snapchat had launched new service to help small businesses advertise on the platform that’s particularly popular with young people to share images and videos as well as text and video chat.

It’s called Ad Manager and now businesses in the US buy advertisements with credit cards. The prices apparently prices start at a few dollars. Snapchat will continue to monitor quality and the content of adverts. Prices will be set by auction, in a similar way as Google Adwords, and not by Snapchat.

Snapchat have also partnered with 25 businesses to help SMEs build adds, run campaigns and measure the success of the advertising. Snap will also be introducing a tool so that businesses can easily and effectively import and edit imagery to use in advertising.

Snapchat is taking its fight for monetising the service straight to Facebook with this play. Facebook already boasts 70 million businesses who use Facebook pages for promotion and 5 million paying businesses. Now Snapchat clearly want a piece of that action and their specialist, committed, engaged audience will be attractive to many advertisers out there.

Currently this new service appears to be honed purely for US advertisers but it seems likely that Ad Manager will come to other territories too. Would you consider adding Snapchat your ecommerce marketing mix?

  1. We use Facebook a LOT, we have found it the best value for money by far ability to create different type of posts from images to video (video is very effective) plus facebook targeting is excellent, most importantly you control the ad and the spend. If you make effective video it is good.
Pinterest You Tube and Twitter is a waste of time and is simply not worth it, and we do not think Google adwords offers value for money for small business. We have only just started with Instagram. We also use flipagram a fair bit and are able to build a organic audience.

My partner uses Snapchat all the time so it will be interesting to see how this goes.
