Well known delivery company Whistl has made a key investment in Prism DM as it continues to growth firm’s capabilities in what they term as the “e-fulfilment market”.

Prism DM, with facilities in Farnborough and Rushden, has a long-established business in the e-fulfilment sector and has a range of high profile clients including Long Tall Sally, Oliver Sweeney, Brand Alley, Warner Brothers Studios, Le Chameau, National Trust, Sport Pursuit and Emma’s Diary.

As they say of their business: “Our experienced in-house software engineers will implement your designs and achieve full connectivity to the rest of your operational systems. Hosting on our servers provides 24hr 365days continuous service and maintenance for your on-line customers and remote business links via VPNs. And with browser based applications for secure access by your own team, your suppliers and operational partners, you can all see the full picture at any time.”

Under the deal Lieneke Happel of Whistl will become the new Managing Director of Prism and will work with Rashpal Gill and the team. Mike Thom, director of Prism will stay with the business on a part time basis for the next two years to help with its strategic development.

Whistl UK CEO Nick Wells says: “The move into e-fulfilment is a natural progression for the company and extends our offering in the supply chain. The 180 Prism staff will continue to provide excellent service, expertise and know-how to the business and with our size and scale we hope to maximise its potential in the future.”

It is clear that those companies involved with delivery and the courier trade are getting really serious about ecommerce with this deal. It will be of particular interest to understand exactly what Whisl and Prism together will be offering to marketplace and online sellers. The devil is, after all, in the detail.
