DHL is expanding its European parcel network. They are now able to offer cross-border services for online customers in Ireland and Romania and Croatia and Bulgaria will join the network in November.
Partnerships with An Post, the state-owned postal service provider from Ireland, and Urgen Cargus, a private parcel service from Romania mean that DHL services are cross-border ecommerce as of now.
And coming later down the line they will also be partnering with postal service Hrvatska Posta and Rapido in Croatia and Bulgaria respectively.
DHL says it wants to continue its development in the European ecommerce industry and offer customers an extensive infrastructure. The ultimate goal is to be present in all key European ecommerce markets by the end of 2018.
Jürgen Gerdes is the CEO Post – eCommerce – Parcel at Deutsche Post DHL Group and he says: “We believe in the European idea and we are aware that people in Europe are longing for community. The ‘United Shipping States of Europe’ are more than just a new logistics network. They contribute to creating a greater sense of community among European citizens.” That’s bold statement to British ears as Brexit looms.
This expansion means that DHL’s European parcel network for cross-border ecommerce now consists of a total of 26 countries, and they are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
