Alibaba set to open fulfilment centre in France

No primary category set

Alibaba continues its European expansion with news that its looking to open a dedicated fulfilment centre in France in the not too distant future. Alibaba will apparently soon open a logistics centre in France and also increase the sale of French products on its online trading platforms. The company is currently looking for a site and fulfilment partners.

The possibility emerged after a conversation between founder and CEO Jack Ma at a meeting with between the president of France Emmanuel Macron and the Chinese president Xi Jinping in Beijing last week. The meeting centred on building trade and business links between the two countries.

Alibaba chief Jack Ma says that he will be formalising the deal shortly. He commented: “I will go to France very soon to sign a memorandum of understanding for a Alibaba partnership, including logistics, payment solutions and ecommerce.”

The move comes at a time when Alibaba is doing well in France with French merchants enjoying success on the platform. Ma said that 1,700 French brands have joined Alibaba and their average growth has been 53% in the past year. Needless today, the French republic is a significant ecommerce territory and a rich country that Alibaba wants to further exploit and this move is a fine example of how there is more growth to come.

  1. Alibaba will fail in Europe as they will have to overcome Amazon and EBay which will be impossible as Amazon has Prime benefits along with free shipping. All Alibaba can do is to fill its fulfilment cente r with cheap Chinese goods.
