The growth of Netherlands ecommerce is growing encouragingly, making it an every more interesting ecommerce export market for online sellers.
The first three quarters of 2017 are reported to have seen €15.7 billion spent online in the Netherlands. And in the fourth quarter of 2017 the ecommerce spend is expected to be €7 billion, which means that Dutch ecommerce in 2017 will add up to €22.7 billion. This will be a 14% increase in the total ecommerce spend seen in Holland in 2016. That’s pretty decent growth.
Over the course of the third quarter this year, consumers in the Netherlands made 49.7 million individual online purchases, of which 39 million were product purchases and 10.7 million were services.

Wijnand Jongen of Thuiswinkel.org, who are behind the research, says of the findings: “In the first three quarters of this year, we’ve noticed that the online growth continues significantly. This is thanks to the good results of both pure players and physical stores that also sell their products and/or services online. For now, we are heading towards an online turnover record of over 22 billion euros. Especially, since online retail holidays such as Singles Day and the Black Friday weekend play an increasingly important role.”
