Alongside the eBay UK Summer Seller Release, there are some important fee changes for you to be aware of if you sell on eBay France, eBay Spain or eBay Italy. They are moving to a model similar to the UK where fees will be charged on the total sale price including shipping.
eBay are highlighting their current model of free shipping, a short handling time and a longer return period to sellers in these three countries and are offering discounts for those that can meet the service requirements, along with the stick of charging fees on the domestic shipping cost to discourage those who shift some of the product price into shipping to game search and avoid fees.
The main eBay France Spain & Italy Summer Seller Release fee changes
The changes will come into effect on the 1st of August 2018.
eBay fees on sales that you pay will be based on the total cost, that is, on the price of the item plus shipping costs paid by the buyer.
If you include the option of free domestic shipping, offer a handling time of 0 or 1- day and a return period of 30-days, you will get a discount of 10% on the commission for the qualifying sales.
On eBay Spain, the discount 10% discount is on top of the existing 10% Top Rated Seller discount.
eBay quoted a Research Now survey which states 56% of consumers abandon their shopping cart because the delivery options offered are too expensive and 39% of consumers abandon their shopping cart because the delivery time is too long. Those who sell on the the larger eBay EU country sites will already be used to paying fees on shipping and now for France Italy and Spain, you’ll also need to factor in fee on shipping costs, unless you can meet the free domestic shipping, handling time and return period requirements.
Other eBay EU changes
eBay France, Italy, Spain and Germany will see similar changes to the UK with the Alignment of tyre categories with industry standards; eBay Shop update; Seller standards metrics; Returns improvements.
eBay Germany will also see roll out of the Shop by Product experience in certain categories.

They should sort out their broken checkout/basket for combined postage before waving sticks band charging fees.
I have no idea how many abandoned carts I have because they don’t share that info with their ‘partners’.
But I do get customers who pay 2, 3 or more international signed shipping fees. That works out at them paying more for postage than for their order sometimes. I’m sure I lose out with lost sales.
EBay technical support tell me I’ve got everything set up correctly. But that customers are ‘thick’. Nice couldn’t give @@@@ attitude we have come to expect from them.
