If you have a BigCommerce store, then you can now place your inventory into a Facebook shop and extend it’s reach to sell on Facebook Marketplace in a limited but popular number of categories.

According to Facebook data as of May 2018, one in three Facebook users in the US are already using Facebook Marketplace, giving retailers an opportunity to drive discovery and sales of key products in a place where their consumers are already shopping.

It’s worth remembering that unlike most marketplaces there are no fees on Facebook. Whilst Facebook marketplace drives the traffic, the actual transactions are off-Facebook so it’s you that gains a customer when you sell on Facebook Marketplace.

The traffic is organic, the Facebook Marketplace will surface your products aligned to a customer’s preferences to ensure that they’re seen by the right audience giving an increased opportunity that the customer will make a purchase.

The only downside in the BigCommerce – Facebook Marketplace integration is as mentioned a limited number of categories are currently supported, which are: Accessories; Apparel (Men & Women); Baby & Kids; Bags & Luggage; Beauty (Women); and Home Furnishing.

There are a few conditions – you must be a direct brands or authorised retailers, accept returns within 30 days and be able to ship within 3 days with delivery completed within 7 days.

To sell on Facebook Marketplace with BigCommerce, you’ll need to connect your store to your Facebook Shop and enable Facebook payments. Then you can opt to sell on the Facebook marketplace within the BigCommerce dashboard.

BigCommerce say that this is an early stage program so there is a waiting list for retailer and brands who are interested.
