MetaPack has announced that John Clem, Chief Product & Strategy Officer at Stamps.com will also act as General Manager of MetaPack with immediate effect. He will be responsible for steering the business following the company’s acquisition by Stamps.com in July.
John Clem has been on the senior management team at Stamps.com for fifteen years and prior to his most recent role, which he took up in 2012, he was Vice President, Product and Service Operations for six years. He has also served as Director of Corporate Strategy and as a Director of Marketing where he led the launch of Stamps.com’s Package Insurance and PhotoStamps products.
Before joining Stamps.com, John Clem was a management consultant at Booz Allen & Hamilton and also worked as an engineer and manager in the petrochemical and utilities industries. Clem is moving from the company’s California headquarters to be based at MetaPack’s offices in London and is taking on the responsibilities of Steve Rowley, formerly Executive Chairman at MetaPack, who is now leaving the company.
They claim that the extensive knowledge that John Clem brings to the role, not just in terms of his experiences with Stamps.com, but also in his ability to devise and implement business strategy, will deliver invaluable and insightful leadership for MetaPack. Time will tell.
John has been a very important element in the growth of Stamps.com, not least because of his deep understanding of eCommerce delivery. He has designed many of our new shipping features over the last five years, and they have been instrumental in Stamps.com’s success in the U.S. market. We now fully expect John to bring that expertise to his management of MetaPack, working together with Founder Patrick Wall and with the executive team to fulfil our ambitious plans for the future.
