Cyber Monday was once again the single biggest shopping day in the Amazon’s history with more products ordered worldwide than any other day. The five popular shopping days starting with Thanksgiving and continuing through Cyber Monday, broke records as customers in the US purchased millions more products over the five day period vs. the same period last year.
Worldwide on Amazon’s Biggest Shopping Day, they sold more than 18 million toys and more than 13 million fashion items on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, combined.
“Black Friday and Cyber Monday continue to break records on Amazon year over year, which tells us that customers love shopping for deals to kick off the holiday shopping season. With curated gift guides, convenient shopping experiences, incredible product selection, and free shipping with no minimum purchase amount, Amazon offers customers tremendous value—sure to deliver smiles all season long.”
– Jeff Wilke, CEO Worldwide Consumer, Amazon
What is interesting here is that once again Amazon aren’t saying that it was their biggest shopping day on Amazon.com. They are talking about worldwide sales and with new territories such as India and Australia it’s likely that much of their growth is from territory rather than domestic. This won’t please investors especially as Amazon have already warned that their Q4 performance could be lower than investors would like to see. We’ll know at the end of January if Amazon’s holiday performance is good enough to appease investors.
From the merchant perspective it’s good to see that sales are up 20% compared to Black Friday last year, but again with a larger territory, even taking into account that the US is Amazon’s biggest market, to talk about worldwide sales suggests that the US domestic sales may not have been as good as one might have hoped.

No it’s not Tyler as I use FBA for all of that 🙂 I don’t even lift a finger to process these orders.
