Royal Mail Stamp Prices to rise 3p from Monday March 25th

No primary category set

Royal Mail Stamp Prices are to rise from Monday March 25th 2019. The cost of both a First and a Second Class stamp will increase so, for most online retailers who still purchase postage either at the Post Office or online, Monday March the 25th may be the day you wish to tweak your postage prices.

The price of a 1st Class stamp will increase by 3p to 70p.

The price of a 2nd Class stamp will increase by 3p to 61p

The changes will also see rises to the cost of parcels – a 1kg small parcel posted 1st Class will rise from £3.45 to £3.55.

The cost of a 500g large letter will jump 10p from £1.87 to £1.97.

“Royal Mail understands that many companies and households are finding it hard in the current economic environment. As a result, we have considered any pricing changes very carefully and in doing so have sought to minimise any impact on our customers”
– Royal Mail

Royal Mail say that their stamp prices are among the best value in Europe when compared to other postal operators and that their price rises are necessary to help ensure the sustainability of the Universal Postal Service.

Royal Mail research shows that the European average for 1st Class letters (0-100g) is 99p and European average for 2nd Class letters (0-100g) is 77p.

Don’t forget that if you purchase your postage online you can save a couple of pennies on the cost of your parcel postage. However, Royal Mail remain uncompetitive on heavier parcels – basically they don’t want to carry them and you’ll get way better prices (and service) from a courier including Royal Mail’s own ParcelForce for which you can access better prices at senditnow.com

LOL they have been using that line for the last 3 years. Same Bull on every letter ever had from them…they have not considered anything the board will want more pay rises for poor work.

Sitting at 292.70 right now (costing me a small fortune) , nearly half it was this time last year. Royal Fail Mail answer to everything is price rise…company cannot evolve to meet the requirements of modern e-commerce… services, price, “BUSINESS customer”support makes eBay look like World leaders with customer support.

  2. Massive rises yet again for Airmail.

    About 10%

No justification whatsoever for this. Gap between us and our competitors in the EU widening every year.

Only getting away with it because those prices are not regulated.

    Imagine what they’d charge if 1st and 2nd weren’t regulated !!!!

Same bullsh*t statement about the rises (they can’t even bother to change the wording each year:

“We understand how hard it is for many companies in the current economic environment. We work hard to keep our prices as competitive as possible against a backdrop of rising costs associated with transporting and delivering mail and parcels overseas. For that reason, we have considered any changes very carefully and have sought to minimise their impact on our customers.”

Total crap. Like the service they give missing their main delivery targets.

    We pay more for less.

  3. my hermes will think its Christmas again
royal mail cant seen to grasp they no longer have a monopoly
any price increase drives custom to competitors

  4. Royal Mail volumes keep falling.

So they keep sticking the prices up above inflation.

    Makes perfect sense.

Eventually, there will be one customer, paying £20 billion quid to post the only letter Royal Mail will have left to deliver.

  5. Post office is being supplemented by stamp collectors. Thats why there are so many issues each year bringing in millions in revenue solely from stamp collectors. And who sees a £1.55 stamp on an envelope. Let alone seeing any of the issued 1st class stamps on envelopes. Stop issuing so many.
