eBay have introduced a pre-order solution to allow shoppers to buy Captain Marvel products 30 days prior to the official launch of the movie. The new initiative marks the first holistic experience in partnership with Marvel, following smaller releases of The Meg and Fantastic Beasts last year.
The initiative aims to grant eBay shoppers exclusive access to new movie launches before they hit the big screens. Shoppers can enter their email in the box and select the version of the movie they want. These include DVD, Blue Ray, 4k Ultra HD+Blu Ray and 3-D Blue Ray. Once shoppers click ‘reserve your movie’, they will be emailed within 24 hours confirming that their selection has been reserved. Consumers don’t have to commit to buying or paying yet, but this means their copy is reserved. They will be emailed a link to a web page 30 days before the movie comes out where they can confirm their purchase by clicking ‘buy it now.’ This step will mean that shoppers have paid for their purchase. Customers can confirm their purchase at any time but will need to do so by six days before the movie comes out to ensure it is posted in time to reach them on release date.
The initiative marks eBay’s broader project which aims to continue developing their home entertaining offering over the coming months.
