eBay Canada expanded promoted listings to more sellers

No primary category set

eBay Canada have expanded promoted listings to allow sellers to boost the visibility of their products by promoting them in prominent placement across eBay.

Sellers who are in good standing will be able to use this service regardless of whether or not they have an eBay Store, previously only sellers with an eBay store could use eBay Promoted Listings. This change has already happened in the UK.

With a simple click on the ‘Sell It Faster’ option in Seller Hub, sellers can quickly promote one or more items. They should simply check the box, choose the ad rate, and add their listings to an existing campaign or start a new one. Merchants only pay when a buyer clicks on the promoted listing and purchases the item within 30 days.

Sellers will also get:

  • Guidance on set up – which items to promote and an average ad rate
  • Access to detailed campaign performance
  • Sales reports

What is good standing to eBay?

  • Top-rated

One of the best sellers on eBay, providing an exceptional quality of customer service, as well as meeting minimum sales requirements for Top Rated Seller level. If you’re a Top Rated Seller, you’re also eligible for Top Rated Plus listing benefits as long as you meet the listing qualifications.

  • Above Standard

Meeting eBay’s minimum standard for sellers, and looking after your customers well.

  • Below Standard

Not meeting one or more of eBay’s minimum requirements for customer service quality

eBay assesses sellers’ level on the 20th of each month based on their sales history and the quality of service they provide to buyers.

Above standard sellers are expected to:

  • Promptly resolve customer issues.
  • Ship items on time, within your specified handling time.
  • Manage inventory and keep items well stocked.
  • Charge reasonable shipping and handling costs.
  • Specify shipping costs and handling time in the listing.
  • Follow through on your return policy.
  • Respond to buyers’ questions promptly.
  • Be helpful, friendly, and professional throughout a transaction.
  • Make sure the item is delivered to the buyer as described in the listing.

How seller ratings fall below standard

Sellers’ ratings fall Below Standard if their transaction defect rate is above 2% or their cases closed without seller resolution is above 0.3%.

If merchants’ ratings are above either of these percentages, they’ve fallen Below Standard, and eBay may apply limits or restrictions on sellers’ accounts. If this happens, eBay will send merchants an email to let them know.

For more information on meeting buyers’ expectations, see eBay’s selling practices policy.
