A new eBay 2-step verification method has been launched via the eBay mobile app. The aim is to prevent access to your eBay account even if someone becomes aware of your password.
With this new feature, you can use the eBay app on your mobile device to receive a notification to approve your sign in. Now, even if someone else knows your eBay password they will be unable to log into your eBay account without your knowledge as the eBay 2-step verification gives an extra layer of security designed to prevent unauthorised access to your account.
This will be fantastic for those who only log into their account themselves, but won’t be quite as convenient for businesses that need to allow account access for multiple employees. In this instance the best solution is normally to use third party tools to give access as eBay don’t yet have multiple login access with different permission levels.
How to set up eBay 2-Step verification via the eBay Mobile App
- Download the latest eBay app.
- Sign in to your account on your eBay app.
- In the eBay app, go to My eBay -> Settings -> Signing in -> 2-step verification.
- Turn on “eBay Verify”.

This isn’t new I’ve been using it for a long time. I had one of the Paypal button keyrings similar to those given by banks and produced a 6 digit number. When these were phased out I was automatically moved to the system above.
Works great, text sometimes take a minute but never been a problem getting one. If you get a text and you’re not signing in you know you password has been compromised and take action before anyone gets to your account.
If just like the fingerprint recognition next please.
