eBay to collect online sales tax from 1st of July

eBay.com have announced the new states where they will be collecting online sales tax on applicable transactions beginning on the 1st of July 2019.

eBay have shared the news in The eBay Community, saying that sellers do not need to take any action. eBay will collect the online sales tax on sellers’ behalf for the affected states:

eBay say that are no extra charges or fees for this service. However, eBay says that sellers need to continue collecting and remitting tax in these states, before this tax collection takes effect, to comply with any applicable requirements they impose.

eBay say that there are no opt-outs for selling items to the states that we are collecting tax for, or out of eBay automatically collecting sales tax for applicable orders. They say that additional US states will likely be added.
