Amazon may offer relief for Coronavirus

No primary category set

To date some 1,383 people have died as a result of the Novel Coronavirus with more than 64,000 infections. The number of infections jumped this week as Chinese authorities stepped in and re-classified possible cases as definite in order to ensure treatment and isolation didn’t have to wait until a diagnosis was confirmed.

Whilst only 3 deaths have occurred outside China, this is a world wide crisis and is naturally impacting businesses and so Amazon have announced that if your business is affected they may offer relief for Coronavirus against your performance metrics. Part of Amazon’s advice is to take steps in advance to protect your performance metrics, if stock is delayed or shipments can’t be made it’s always better to take action before your metrics are impacted than to beg for forgiveness afterwards.

Amazon relief for Coronavirus statement

“We are aware that the Novel Coronavirus and related actions are impacting millions of individuals around the world.

If your business operations may be impacted, we recommend taking precautions to protect your Amazon seller account health. These precautions may include cancelling previously placed orders that you are no longer able to fulfil, placing your account in vacation status, or taking additional steps to manage your inventory. If your performance metrics have been impacted by this event, please include a brief description of how your business was impacted when you respond to the relevant performance notification in Seller Central. We will consider this unforeseen event when we evaluate your account’s recent performance.”

  1. Lol “may” being the most important word in this article.

They should be forced to waive performance impact. It’s a global epidemic in one of the largest (if not the worlds largest) global export regions. How does one acknowledge fault and mitigate this I wonder?

    “Plan Of Action”…

    Dear Amazon,

We fully acknowledge that we could have better prepared for and ultimately prevented the Coronavirus outbreak entirely had we invested the proceeds of our Amazon Sales into the development of vaccines. Subsequently to ensure that such an epidemic on a global scale does not arise again in the future, we have donated all of the profits that we have made on Amazon to-date into the ongoing research and development of vaccines for viral infections, specifically those relating to viruses that we have not yet discovered and will continue to fund this ongoing research with the proceeds of our Amazon Sales moving forward.

Whilst I sincerely hope that you will consider this as an acknowledgement of fault on our part entirely for ultimately failing to foresee an outbreak of a new Coronavirus much sooner, please rest assured that we have taken immediate action to mitigate the possibility any reoccurrence of the Coronavirus, or any other outbreak of similar nature in the future and are confident that with our own investment, and the investments of all Amazon Sellers alike, we will be able to prevent all future and unforseeable events including but not limited to, Global Virus outbreaks, Global Disease pandemics, Asteroid Impacts, Coronial mass ejections, the eventual Heat Death of the Universe and the complete reversal of Global Warming by 2025.

We very much hope to be able to continue selling on Amazon for the foreseeable future.

    Yours sincerely,
    Jay.

  2. Dear Jay,
Your plan of action does not address the underlying issues on your account as we were unable to google translate “Coronial” and therefore I request you submit a plan of action which will tell us how you will avoid this situation again.
Failure to supply your plan of action will result in the permanent removal of your selling priviliges
