There was an annual price rise due for Hermes this Saturday, the 28th of March but due to the unprecedented situation the country finds itself in Hermes have pledged to hold their 2019 prices until May at the earliest.
As previously planned, Hermes are still introducing their new new weight price banding from tomorrow. This means there will be 2-5kg and 5-10kg rates; replacing the current 2kg-10kg band, offering you better value with a saving of £0.50 for 2-5kg parcels.
Hermes normally have an annual price rise in March/April to take account of inflationary cost pressures, in order to maintain the Hermes Send services for consumer senders, micro-businesses and market-place sellers.
“We expect that our 2020 price increase will be delayed until Saturday 2nd May but this will be under review in the coming weeks. The change in online pricing will apply to Hermes ParcelShop Standard and Next Day services, as well as courier collection rates and we will write to you again before our new prices come into effect.”

Divert your parcel to a safe place
Hermes are encouraging all of our customers to choose their preferred safe place for deliveries. If you have a tracking number for your parcel, you can go to the tracking section, choose ‘divert’ and select a safe place. This can also be done through Hermes My Places app.
Automatic delivery to a safe place
If a safe place hasn’t been chosen but there is somewhere safe to deliver the parcel, Hermes will leave it there – even if there’s someone in the property. We’ll take a photo, which will be included in the delivery notification email.
Steps our couriers are taking to avoid contact
If no safe place is available or a signature is required, Hermes will knock on the door and step aside making sure the parcel is delivered safely. If there is no answer, Hermes will return the parcel to the depot and re-attempt delivery on another day.
For those parcels requiring a signature, Hermes have been temporarily given approval to confirm receipt on behalf of a customer; but only when that customer has answered the door and given them permission to do so.

It’s a notable contrast. Hermes do this, while Royal Mail went right ahead with their inflation-busting increase on March 23rd (a Monday, just to make sure they sweep up weekend orders into it).
have just been on to the hermes website to get a quote for 1 pack of records from the uk to the usa: the price has gone up considerably by around £15* (i sent a similar sized/weighted package 2 weeks ago and it was that much* cheaper)!
Hermes are claiming their price hike is an average of 3%, but when you do the maths it looks more like 25%!
