Royal Mail have recently announced an update to their Click & Drop service and those worried about not being able to post their parcels on time will appreciate it.
Due to various limitations surrounding COVID-19 some post offices have been refusing parcels and many Royal Mail delivery offices are closing at 9am with the larger ones at 11am. This has understandably caused concern and panic in the community.
“To protect the health and safety of our people and the general public, from Monday 6 April, we are changing the opening times of our Customer Services Points in our local delivery offices. Our largest locations will be open between 07:00-11:00am. All other Customer Service Points will be open between 07:00-09:00am. All will be closed on Wednesday and Sunday.”
Click & Drop extension
You don’t need to worry anymore as Royal Mail are giving you 7 calendar days to get your parcels sent off after labels have been printed. The official announcement is as follows:
“Following feedback relating to customer concerns over the post by date when purchasing a label through Click & Drop during these difficult times, we have now updated the labels Click & Drop produce to extend the post by date to 7 calendar days. You don’t need to do anything to update your settings, this update has been applied to all labels Clock & drop produces.”

why is it if you buy a first class stamp its valid until you use it
even years in the future
yet a label via click&drop for the same purpose even now is only valid for 7 days
because they have realised that large numbers of people are buying up and using old stamps from pre privatisation and using them and they still have to perform the service payed for.
Surely there’s a happy compromise between 24hrs and 24 years?
Did the Royal Mail really issue an official announcement with a typo?
Trust Tamebay…..”not being able to post their parcels on time”, what a negative attitude as always. On time…….sellers can manage themselves and the 1 day time limit before was not always easy, but in the Covid world we live in with changing opening hours of delivery offices and post offices (often in shops nowadays) the extra felxibility is great to have.
Personally, I had two parcels I planned to post today……but after being up all night ill, I have delayed my once a week trip to do my post (and recycling). In the past I would have had to cancel all the labels and re do them before heading off miles to find the small parcel drop box. But now I can still post tomorrow without any problems.
I see this extension to 7 days as a benefit, and one I hope the Royal Mail keep afterwards. People’s plans change, so the extra flexibility is very helpful.
