Amazon have recently announced that they will donate to the NAACP, National Urban League, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and UNCF, among others, which support education and justice for Black communities across the U.S.
Many large companies are making a prominent stand in the inequitable and brutal treatment of Black lives. Amazon are one of the latest to speak out and state they are standing in solidarity with their Black employees, customers, and partners, and are committed to helping build a country and a world where everyone can live with dignity and free from fear.
In this stand Amazon will donate $10 million to relevant organizations that work to bring about social justice and improve the lives of Black and African Americans. The selected Recipients were chosen with the help of Amazon’s Black Employee Network (BEN) and are as follows:
- ACLU Foundation
- Brennan Center for Justice
- Equal Justice Initiative
- Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law
- NAACP
- National Bar Association
- National Museum of African American History and Culture
- National Urban League
- Thurgood Marshall College Fund
- UNCF (United Negro College Fund)
- Year Up
BEN will also receive a grant to fund local organizations that support education and racial equality initiatives in communities across the country where our employees live and work.
