What consumers are buying on eBay this Halloween

No primary category set

eBay have released data on Halloween consumer behaviour based on search spikes for spooky items. It is likely that this year Halloween celebrations will be a little different due to Coronavirus, especially considering the rise in new cases. More people are going online to keep their spooky spirits high and are still searching for the usual favorites like sweets, costumes, and more. If you’re wondering what buyers are looking for, wonder no more with the most searched items detailed below.

Window Projectors:
Searches up 131% as people decorate their windows and spread the spirit from a distance.

Pumkin Spice:
Searches for pumpkin spice up 81% as people try to remake their favourite Halloween staple drink from the comfort of their own home instead of heading to a coffee shop.

Balloons:
With everyone staying in, people are going all out with decorations, with searches for Halloween balloons up by 1516%.

Sweets:
Despite trick-or-treating being put on hold this year, the nation needs sweet treats more than ever, with searches for Halloween sweets up 392%.

Costumes:
The top 20 costumes include a T-Rex costume for kids, Harley Quinn for women and Jim Carrey’s The Mask for men, as people turn to blockbuster films for inspiration.

eBay have also noted that Oktoberfest costumes made up a quarter of the top 20 costume searches this time last year, but with the beer festival cancelled, Bavarian outfits have dropped off the shopping list.
