FedEx TNT Shipments to be resumed (rebook collections)

No primary category set

After suspending their services yesterday there’s good news, FedEx TNT Shipments are to resume from today for domestic shipments. However, Non-conveyable shipments will not be accepted until further notice.

A non-conveyable shipment is one that cannot be sorted on automated machinery. Items can be deemed as non-conveyable due to their weight, size, packaging, contents or the potential to cause damage.

The two companies, in the process of being merged under the FedEx brand, are working through their recovery plan and customers could still expect some delays for their shipments. International shipments will continue to be accepted, however some shipments that entered the network yesterday may experience a transit delay. These are prioritised for recovery.

Domestic FedEx TNT Shipments that are already in the network are being worked on – Recovery plans are already in place, and they are working hard to deliver items as quickly as possible by implementing a first in, first out strategy.

If you had an ad hoc collection due on yesterday, the 6th of October, which wasn’t collected then you will need to rebook a collection in order to have your parcels collected. If you have a regular daily collection then hopefully that will take place today, although many retailers have doubtless already booked today’s shipments on alternative carriers.

Having trailers, probably numbering in the 100s, that weren’t able to tip their parcels at the depot yesterday is likely to have an ongoing knock on effect for a number of days. Whilst as soon as things are up and running they’ll be able to tip their loads, the trailers could well be in the wrong place to collect today’s shipments. It will be worth monitoring delivery performance and if indicated make sure you message your customers that there could be delays in receiving their items.
