Dutch online marketplace bol.com have welcomed their 50,000th seller, showing continued growth since allowing third-party partners to sell on the site in 2011.
bol.com is now home to 41 million items across a range of product categories and welcomes 13 million Dutch and Belgian customers. Over the twenty years since launch the marketplace has become a recognizable connector between local demand and local supply.
In 2020 bol.com experienced huge growth as over 10,000 business partners joined the platform, to further their sales due to the pandemic. Even now, the marketplace is continuing to see great success for their partners, as revealed in first quarter of 2022, 60% of sales were made through third-party sellers.
We see that people are buying more and more via the Internet. For local entrepreneurs, this means that it has become more interesting to strengthen their physical sales with online sales. We believe in the power of collaboration. Bol.com offers sales partners an additional sales channel with which they can reach millions of customers, also across the border in the Netherlands/Belgium, without having to invest in their own web store. In this way, together we create a better offer for our joint customers.

The very first sales partner
To celebrate this milestone bol.com spoke to their very first third-party partner Ardi Seij, founder of the second-hand bookstore Boek2.
I’ve been using bol.com as an additional sales channel next to my own webshop for years. I soon noticed that I was tapping into a whole new customer base. A younger audience that values a fast and easy delivery service.” Ardi describes bol.com as a professional cooperation partner, who supports him in the growth of his business. “Items that I can’t get rid of through my own webshop are sometimes sold within a day through bol.com. This makes it a powerful medium.
