Apply to sell Direct from the Artist on eBay

eBay are inviting applications from creators that sell (or want to sell) art on their marketplace to sell Direct from the Artist, giving tags in search and on the listing detail page to assure art lovers that they are purchasing genuine art from the artist.

First, this isn’t an entirely new concept, until June 2017 eBay did have Direct from the Artist category, but this was rolled into other art categories at the time – probably because it didn’t make sense if someone was looking for an oil painting not to have the art in the ‘Paintings’ category. This left artists without a way to distinguish themselves from the millions of other art sold on eBay but that’s now changing and the new iteration is better!

eBay’s Direct From The Artist programme aims to empower established or aspiring artists by equipping you with essential knowledge, skills and support to sell your artworks on eBay. By helping artists boost the online visibility of their listings and build trust with buyers, eBay say that the programme has already given many creators the financial and creative freedom needed to thrive as a commercial artist.

This has only been strengthened through our partnership with the Visual Artists Association. As we work closely with the professional body – made up of 25,000 artists around the world – to support its ongoing commitment to providing mentorship and education for its ever-growing community of artists.

Apply

You can apply for Direct from the Artist selling status on eBay here.

Before you apply, a word of warning… if you sell other products on eBay you will need a seperate selling account. Before you change your main eBay account to an Artist account, consider if that’s the account you want to dedicate to your creative work, or if it would be better to open a new account specifically for selling your own art.
