Retro Styler sees quick traction on Wish

Join the with Wish UK Business Development team in this live webinar, on Thursday 27th July 2023 10am, to get geared up for a great Q4 by unlocking your global selling potential and reach millions of new customers on our cross-border platform. The webinar will show you how to emulate the success that UK-based merchant Retro Styler has already achieved.

Retro Styler is an independent business built by the fans, for the fans. Focused on helping grow fan communities, Retro Styler sells indelible, timeless pop culture brands. Quality merchandise collections are carefully chosen by Retro Styler’s in-house team of “Retro Geeks,” who are inspired by everyone’s favourite films, television, games, and music. They currently feature a catalogue of 4500 products on Wish, including gifts, fashion items and collectables.

After joining Wish in March of 2023, Retro Styler found it easy to list products through their integration with Linnworks. Unlike on other online marketplaces, activating their full catalogue took a matter of weeks, rather than months. Immediate traction was also gained by partnering with their Wish Account Manager to focus on key aspects of account optimization such as Wish Standards scores, Customer Services and Logistics.

By launching in 55 international markets, Retro Styler also immediately tapped into Wish’s broad global reach. Operational barriers made selling internationally challenging on other marketplaces. Not so with Wish, which requires only a single account for international sales.

As a selling channel, Wish has already proved itself to Retro Styler through contributions to monthly revenue.

From a merchant point of view, Wish allows for direct access to a global market, from one platform and without the need to advertise. It’s also a good platform for moving larger quantities of iscounted products.

– Luca Salamone, Digital Brand Manager, Retro Styler

To that end, Retro Styler promotes products on Wish and participates in merchandising events. For Wishmas, Wish’s first major sale event in March of 2023, they launched over 1,000 products and experienced a 39.5% GMV lift in sales.

Making full use of all features on offer, such as promotions, deals, and optimisation suggestions, (as well as setting realistic delivery estimates to international countries) have been key to Retro Styler’s success.

Although it is relatively fast to sign up and onboard, give yourselves enough time to do this properly, upload any documents to make sure that you are compliant with international laws, and make sure your listings are optimised for best performance.

– Luca Salamone, Digital Brand Manager, Retro Styler

To provide the best value and service, Retro Styler offers Wish customers worldwide shipping. International sales make up the majority of their business. Over 90% of their business is sent to customers outside of the UK, and 43% of the business goes to North America.

Finally, Retro Styler advises new Wish merchants to communicate regularly with their Account Manager and stay proactive about compliance with account, product, and platform rules. They especially value the fact that communication with Wish is a two-way street.
