In their September Seller Release, eBay introduced a raft of small but significant changes to increase sales. The new selling features cover everything from Social sharing, coupon visibility, and AI, plus notification of category changes.
Social Sharing
eBay already launched a Social page in Seller Hub, making it easy for Shop subscribers to create custom posts by connecting their eBay account to their social accounts. Now, the Social page is available to all eBay sellers in Seller Hub (not just shop subscribers)
You can save time by linking your Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest accounts and create custom posts to drive traffic to your listings. You can also post to multiple platforms at once and get insights into the traffic you’re receiving to your Shop, listings, and other category pages from social media. While the Social page includes Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest eBay say that they will add more platforms in the future.
Coupons Shop Tab
To make it easy for Shop subscribers to highlight active promotions, eBay are rolling out a new Sale tab on the Shopfront. This tab will feature all your coded coupon promotions in one place, and make it easier for buyers to find your discounted items.
eBay Assured Fit free return labels
Having rolled out the eBay Assured Fit programme to protect buyers and sellers from fitment issues and to help cover the cost of your returns when you sell vehicle parts and accessories, if you add add fitment details to your listings then eBay will provide you with free return labels if there’s a fitment issue. At the same time, eBay will remove any open cases from service metrics, and any negative and neutral feedback related to the fit of the item.
AI
AI-powered item descriptions are now available to all UK sellers listing in the majority of categories on the eBay app. This new feature can save you time by suggesting an attention-grabbing item description at the touch of a button. You can use the suggested description as-is, or easily customise it to add more detail, adjust for accuracy, or fit your business’ unique voice.
eBay are also upgrading the image background removal tool, making it easier than ever to showcase your item on a white background and increase your listing’s chances of standing out. With just one tap, the improved tool will seamlessly create a white background for your item image, without the need for any manual editing or touching up. The improved background removal tool is already available to all sellers in the eBay app and anywhere you use the advanced listing tool, and will be expanded to desktop in the coming weeks.
Category Changes
This seller release brings a couple of category changes in auto parts and accessories plus one in fashion
eBay are combining the Performance Exhausts, Performance Driveline & Transmission, Performance Chassis, and Suspension & Brakes categories into their corresponding categories under Car & Truck Parts. This will reduce duplication and help your buyers find the products they are looking for. They are also changing the Automotive Tools & Supplies category to more accurately categorise products and simplify the buying experience.
In Fashion, eBay are adding replacement shoe-box category to let you list empty shoe boxes independently from regular trainers/sneakers
