It was a massive delight to meet Phil Shrimpton of Phil Comics as he was presented with the eBay Pioneer Award at the eBay for Business Awards 2023. It was then I realised that this was the same Phil that has been emailing me of and on over the past two decades as he’s an avid ChannelX reader.

Not only has the winner, Phil Comics been selling on eBay for over 23 years, his ability to evolve with the times and consistently delight customers has built a brand that is revered throughout the collectables category.
Phil’s love affair with comics started over 30 years ago. But it was in 2001, when he was still a student at Leeds University, that he started selling a few spare comics on eBay.
Once he graduated, even embarking on a career as a Scenes of Crime Officer with Sussex Police couldn’t derail his love of comics. During this time, Phil continued to pursue his passion “on the side” before finally taking the plunge to sell comics full time after the end of his police career.
Phil is the true embodiment of an eBay pioneer and a worthy winner of this award. It’s one thing to sell on eBay for over 23 years, but to consistently maintain 100% positive Feedback throughout this time is testament to his ability to evolve with the eBay platform, while forging many meaningful relationships along the way.
