eBay UK New Product Identifiers & eBay Product Reviews

eBay will remind sellers this week that will be required on all new, relisted, revised and Good ‘Til Cancelled listings of new and manufacturer-refurbished items in required categories from the end of February. The requirement applies to both single and multi-variation listings and there are some additional categories added to the requirement this January.

From the week of 29 February, you won’t be able to complete new listings, relist or revise items in these categories without including the required product identifiers. If your listings are Good til Cancelled they won’t renew if you haven’t added product identifiers.

eBay say that adding product identifiers helps give your listings better exposure on the site. In general, listings with product identifiers benefit from better visibility in search results, both on eBay and in search engines.

New benefits of Product Identifiers on eBay

Later in 2016 eBay will add more benefits when you include product identifiers in your listings, such as merchandising advice, special promotions and inclusion in emails that they send to buyers promoting items on eBay. And if your item is listed in eBay’s catalogue and has associated product reviews, they will automatically add them to your listing to help increase your chances of making a sale.

Product Reviews

We’ve already seen eBay testing Product Reviews on eBay.com as far back as October 2015. Now it appears that they’ll be coming to eBay UK at some point in 2016.

Product Identifiers will become essential in order for eBay to definitively identify listings for identical products, as eBay move towards a more catalogue based site.
