How do shoppers use eBay image search this Christmas?

No primary category set

eBay image search launched earlier this autumn as a new way for shoppers to discover what’s for sale on the marketplace. We wrote about that here.

And having come through the so-called cyber weekend, eBay has been talking about how shoppers have been using the feature. You can read the full details here, but this is a digest.

Fashion is the top category for image search
It’s unsurprising to note that the fashion category saw the biggest use of the image search feature with trainers, strappy sandals and women’s boots were highly sought after. Jewellery searches performed well too apparently.

Comparison Shopping
Image search was used by shoppers out in the High Street who went online to ensure that they really were getting the best deal and the best price.

Using Screenshots with image search
In addition to searching with new photos taken specifically for eBay image search, eBay says they also saw people uploading screenshots to identify items from blogs and other places across the web. They say: “With deals in abundance, using inspiration from a fashion or lifestyle blog as well as other online retailers to compare pricing seemed to be key.”

Saturday was the busiest day for image search
The Saturday of Cyber Weekend eBay saw the highest volume of image searches. iOS was the most popular platform for using Image Search.
