Are you in London and fancy a few pints with other eBay sellers this Thursday evening? If so make your way over to the Walkabout pub in Putney for 7.30pm, where the first monthly eBay Meetup is to take place.
The event is being organised by Nathan O’Hanlon who has worked for eBay over the last eighteen months. He comes from a web development background and is no stranger to organising Meetups, the last group he set up was for web professionals, and is now the largest Meetup group in New Zealand with over 500 members.
This group will not be run by eBay, but is for sellers on eBay to share tips and tricks for trading on the site. For this the first Meetup the topics are Best Match, visibility, and how to maintain your listing; Selling items in bulk; Third party tool comparisons.
Doubtless there’ll be plenty of time for a few pints afterwards 🙂

Hmm, It does sound tempting…I’ll check the flights, no wife this time though 😆
If you go Whirly you can crash at mine and we can play pool all day Friday 🙂
anyone want a lift / share petrol? I am pretty sure I can make this
Hey John, I’ll take you up on that if you’re going 🙂
#2 Thanks Chris, looking at transport at the moment. 7 hours by car, or 35 mins by plane but no planes.
Hi Chris, great – sounds good. I had an appointment in Maidenhead at 6:30, but have moved this now, so I am 100% going. 7:30 start – I would say set off at about 6pm? – meet at Post Office @ 6pm?
I sleep ,think ,eat, and fart ebay
not a chance of me spending my money or spare time to hear it live
😆 😆 😆
Anyone who spends an hour and a half or more to get over here deserves a free beer – my shout. After all, meetup.com charges me 10 pounds less a month to run this (because I started one before they started charging! )
Will be great to see you all there, RSVP at https://meetup.com/ebayuk – it’s free.
Sounds like a fine idea to me. Wrong side of London for me though & already have plans for this Thursday. If they do another in East London I’d be up for it!
Oh boo, too short notice this time. And Putney’s just up the road from me…
I know some people on ebay are desperate for friends, but isn’t this going a bit far?
SD – never heard of networking?
My wife is in the US with our baby for a few days so I’m home alone. Count me in! 😉
Hey, how did it go? Will you be writing this up, Sue and Chris?
Would have loved to have been able to attend, but it was too short notice to get someone to look after the kids. More notice next time would be FAB!
Hey Andrea, John Pemberton and I drove up from Berkshire and have to say it was a most enjoyable evening. Content was great – mainly focused around a Best Match discussion including a conference call to Mark @ eBay (who is the Best Match Guru). along with looking at each others eBay shops and swapping some thoughts on how to improve them using everything from A (anchor tags) to Z (video from vZaar).
There was even one attendee who’s never even bought on eBay let alone sold but wants to set up an eBay business. She went off with the advice to a) Do all her Christmas shopping on eBay and b) Flog all the stuff she gets given and didn’t want in the New Year. 😀
Venue was great – in a pub upstairs room with no distractions from other punters, small balcony with a great view over the highly entertaining and much underrated Putney High Street.
Future Meetups will be 3rd Thursday of every month (bar December), so stick January 15th in your diary 😀 Finally many thanks to Nathan for organising the meetup and to the Sevmeister (AKA Adrian @ vzaar) for the copious quantities of unexpected freebies and a most generous round of drinks (I’ve never seen someone carry quite so many bottles of beer upstairs without dropping one and then produce two more from their pockets 😀 )
I concur with Chris, it was a good evening, and a welcome break to escape the rolling green fields of Berkshire to some London night life 🙂 Some interesting discussion on Best Match, and an impressive demo on Vzaar – something I hope to take advantage on in the near future.
I can recommend GBK (Gourmet Burger Kitchen) as a good evening restaurant just off Putney High St, after the talk…gosh I was starving…and the Falafel burger went down a treat 😉 I am sure that girl was French not Polish Chris!!
Look forward to the Jan meet.
JP
Cool, will deffo come along to the next one. Will it be at the same place? Will anyone be video’ing it or taping it and transcribing it or something?
makes mental note, 💡
***will need to order more Anoraks***
#17 All the details are at https://www.meetup.com/ebayuk/
Well volunteered to take minutes and report back 😀
Can we have some more notice next time – sounds interesting
Chris
Chris, is two months’ notice enough? 😉 The next one’s 15th Jan – see you there.
Typical, I’m back at the same hotel I was at for SB2.0 next Sat/Sun always the same, a week too late I spose 🙂
Again, we’ll have to start a Midlands one! Preferably Burton/Derby lol 😀
I am buggered if I know where you all find the time from
I am lucky to squeeze in the 10 o clock news and a pee
never mind rampaging the country meeting folks
