As announced tonight the Top Rated Seller (TRS) badge is now appearing on all listings from top sellers in search results on eBay UK and Ireland. Previously it had only been shown to a percentage of buyers in tests.
For the first time it’s possible to easily see how many items there are on the first page of search results from TRS, and it should be reassuring to those who don’t have the badge that TRS don’t dominate most searches. For the half dozen search terms I’ve checked I’ve yet to see an item from a TRS in the first position, although undoubtedly it will happen.
It will be interesting to see how much it affects sales, if at all. If you are a TRS and sales go up, or if you’re not a TRS and see a drop in sales let us know, although it’s likely to be some time before sellers can tell with a level of certainty how the TRS badge (or lack of it) is affecting them. With industrial action affecting the postal service and the weekend approaching there are too many other factors which could influence sales in the immediate future but immediate impressions will nonetheless be interesting to hear.
