One of the very first steps eBay took was to promise sellers that they would protect your earned status throughout the pandemic. Even before the UK went into official lock down, eBay were already thinking about how to ensure sellers were looked after and on the 20th of March promised to have your back with eBay Seller Protections. These eBay Seller Protections have now been extended.
If your current account level is Top-Rated Seller or Above Standard, it will be protected from being downgraded to a lower level from 20 March until the 20 June 2020 evaluation included.
For your Seller Performance Standards level evaluation, we’ll automatically remove Late Delivery counts, Seller Cancellation defects, and associated Negative or Neutral feedback received for these specific transactions between 1 March and 30 June 2020 included.

This effectively means that the next evaluation which could impact your seller standing will be the 20th of July evaluation. Your account Seller performance standards level for the 20th of July evaluation will be evaluated based on transactions over the past 12 calendar months up until the 30th of June 2020 – minus the Defects that were removed. If you’ve sold more than 400 items in the past 3 months, you’ll be evaluated based on the last 3 months up until the 30th of June 2020 – minus the Defects that were removed.
eBay also said that they will continue to monitor the situation, so if there is a rise in cases as the UK slowly starts to come out of lock down leading to serious disruption they won’t leave you stranded without eBay seller protections.
It’s worth noting that these eBay seller protections apply to your Seller Performance Standards level. It’s not carte blanche to scrap all customer service and you’ll still be expected to abide by normal eBay trading policies.

That’s good. I still think it needs to be extended to September to clear April’s catastrophic postal delays on the 3 month evaluation. Baby steps I suppose though!
Yep that is good news, and not often I say that about ebay announcements! We are still seeing royal mail issues… which strangely seem to be mainly based around any wedensday postings! Our postie tells us that that is their busiest days and ever with a night crew now sorting parcels, there are still back logs. However when we see items at 8 working days plus late… it is not exactly good news!
So this little extra from ebay will help…. if only it could answer the inr messages each day!
