A cunning stunt from PayPal competitor WePay at the the PayPal developer conference this week: they delivered a 600lb block of ice to the front of the conference centre, filled with frozen money and the message “PayPal freezes your accounts | unfreeze your money.com“.
After being chased away by a security guard, the WePay crew finally smashed up their work of art and gave the money away.
Sporting the line “a better way to collect money” (better than whom? I think we now know…), WePay offers a number of features that PayPal lacks, including group accounts and the ability to split bills. Sadly, they’re not yet available outside the US.
