“Free” (means compulsory) Gallery Plus in Motors

No primary category set

There’s some bad news for eBay motors sellers who don’t take multiple images of a decent size. If you’re a private seller then eBay are about to remove the Gallery Plus fee of £2.00 per listings and add it to the insertion fee. This means the as a private seller on eBay UK. The fee increase kicks in on the 1st November.

For many sellers this will mean an increase in the cost to list a car as a private seller on eBay, only those who would already use Gallery Plus are unaffected. Of course Gallery itself was already free on eBay Motors. Gallery Plus displays a larger picture when you hover over the item in search results and if you have multiple images they will all be accessible through the search results page.

I have to love the way that eBay announce “Free Gallery Plus and Insertion Fee Changes”. What they basically mean is you’re going to pay for Gallery Plus whether you want to or not.

  1. Ive sold a few cars and mostly theyve sold on autotrader. Not ebay motors.
All the serious buyers are on autotrader. All the ask stupid questions, Moan about a mark on a 20 year old car, Knock you down, let you down on the dayers are on ebay.

Having said that id buy a car off ebay if all was well and i have bought a few. Id just never sell a car on there.

Even my local car dealer made the same comments, no prompts needed. All i asked was how do you find ebay motors for sales.

  2. eBay doesn’t do niche any more. Because that’s how it became successful, Now the company focuses on being number 2 behind Amazon and copying them.

So i doubt they will bring back a niche section to the site.
