James Scott who up until recently was Managing Director of ChannelAdvisor has been having a little giggle today. He’s spotted a page on eBay which hasn’t been updated since 2002. What’s even funnier is that one of his old bosses – Michael Jones (better known as “MJ”) – is named on the page as a ChannelAdvisor contact – MJ is now an eBay Vice President.
The page has some great solutions, AuctionWorks, which was renamed MarketWorks stands side by side with ChannelAdvisor (who bought MarketWorks way way back in time. Another is Microsoft bCentral (which purely links to Bing.com these days) and of course at the top of the page Andale is now owned by Vendio!
So what’s the most out of date eBay page you can find? My favourite old page is the one that still claims Meg Whitman is eBay CEO, even though she quit in January 2008. If you can find something even more out of date let us know…

“For each transaction, buyers and sellers can rate each other by leaving Feedback.”
This from 1996…

‘But some people are dishonest. Or deceptive. This is true here, in the newsgroups, in the classifieds, and right next door. It’s a fact of life. But here, those people can’t hide. We’ll drive them away.’
Pierre must be referring to the guy who bought a bath off me last year and claimed it never arrived, then called us a month a go to ask for a replacement part!!!! but I could only leave him positive feedback. 😐
haha
My favorite page has already been revealed above…and I really, really don’t want to see that precious vestige of eBay’s original vision taken down…so let’s keep it on the down-low, OK?!
p.s. Really, 2002 hardly counts as old…my favorite oldest page is from the last century!
You can always tell the really old pages by the layout – the old ones have some really horrible amateurish graphics (which are somehow so much better than the new ones!)
Here’s a great page on eBay UK. “About eBay Neighbourhoods”
1) Neighborhoods have been scrapped on eBay.com
2) Neighbourhoods never even existed on eBay UK 😀
