Once again, we, Belgian soccer fans, have no team to root for in the Euro 2012 tournament. Once again, we are orphaned, wandering through the streets without colours, without flag. We will watch the games, but we won’t taste the heat of the fight, the tension between victory and defeat…. reads the Facebook Page for Belgium, the country without a football team in Euro 2012.
Undeterred by the lack of a team and without the Queen’s Jubilee or the Olympics to fill up their diaries with all profits will going to Unicef. Not only that but the anonymous winning bidder topped up his bid to €3,000 to have 20,000 Belgium supporters cheering on The Netherlands in the Euro 2012.
“We will watch the games, root for the team, wear the colours and the flags, maybe even learn the national anthem. Pictures and photos will be posted in this group, and will be sent to the winning bidder” is the promise, but you might yet get a chance to win their support for your country – “Once the team is eliminated from the tournament, we will grieve for 24 hours, and then put ourselves for sale on eBay again“.
